A new initiative at Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) is championing diversity in the legal field.
The Pathways to Law School program, which is now underway at Â鶹´«Ã½, is overseen by June McLaughlin, an Â鶹´«Ã½ professor and director of its American Bar Association (ABA)-approved Paralegal Studies program.
The Early College Pathway at Â鶹´«Ã½ is a partnership that allows academically qualified students to dual enroll in classes at their local high school and Â鶹´«Ã½. Since its founding in 2007, the program has flourished, with more than 300 participants and 160 completers.

Starting college behind bars is no one’s idea of a promising beginning, but for formerly incarcerated Clifford Haines, equal amounts grit and grace has led to completion of an associate’s degree at Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) (with one more on the way), plus a path toward a business degree at Cal State Long Beach.
