Imagine trying to read a book full of three-dimensional letters, each one popping from the page in full relief. Now, imagine your mind is a helicopter, circling each and every character, but struggling to perceive the overall picture.

That was high school for �鶹��ý student and dyslexia sufferer Colin Carey. It wasn’t that the blades weren’t whirling fast enough – quite the opposite, in fact. Carey was an outside-the-box thinker who would go on to thrive on creative problem-solving in his construction career.

It was while trotting the globe as a technical rep for Xerox that Mohamed Sheikh really began to think about the Sun’s future. Little did he know, he may have been gazing into his ���Dz�’s future, as well.

Bouncing from L.A. to Beijing, to San Francisco and even parts of Africa to attend trade shows, he frequently found himself face-to-face with the latest technological advances. But when he saw what was being done with photovoltaic cell technology, even 25 years ago, he knew solar would be the real game-changer.

Most people transfer from community college to university, not vice versa. But after earning a B.A. in Classical Languages just one year before the 2008 recession, Stephanie Del Rosario saw fewer opportunities opening up for Latin teachers like her, even the ones with master’s degrees.

That’s when the ancient maxim, Audentes fortuna iuvat, or, “Fortune favors the bold,” jumped to mind, and Del Rosario prepared to take a leap of faith.

Many standout �鶹��ý (�鶹��ý) students have managed to juggle professional responsibilities with their college experience, staying successful at both even in the face of dramatic change this semester.

One such student, Cody Abril, is ready to transfer to California State University, Fullerton to major in communications with an emphasis in public relations after taking classes at �鶹��ý for three years.

Educators across the country are trying their best to deal with the tragedy of the Coronavirus. Even as millions of students shifted to online classes, huge segments of the school community could not adapt. This was especially felt in competitive activities like sports who lost their championship seasons. The �鶹��ý Speech and Debate Team was faced with the same disappointment. The team was scheduled to compete at an international tournament in Japan in early March – canceled. The team expected to do well at the state championships in Fresno – canceled.

If you showed Batman the virtual alleyways of the internet, he’d have his hands full fighting villains like credit card crooks, identity thieves and malware hackers. You might say it takes a superhero to battle online crime, and for Michael Franklin, �鶹��ý was the birth of an origin story.

It all started his senior year of high school, where he and his cybersecurity team turned one friend’s garage into a virtual “Batcave” full of high-tech gear.

California native Bernadette Granados never lost hope in herself or her dream of a college education. Like so many �鶹��ý (�鶹��ý) Class of 2020 graduates, commencement is the capstone of Bernadette’s college journey. She and her classmates all are looking forward to �鶹��ý’s virtual commencement on May 28, 2020.

For many of us, “tax season” is a harried five-hour window between mid-afternoon on April 15 and whatever time the post office closes.

But while mere mortals wallow in piles of receipts, despairing as they scramble to organize endless forms, professionals like Colette Harnisch are enjoying every minute of it.
