Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Marketing and Creative Services team picked up seven Medallion Awards and one Rising Star Award from the last week. District 6 covers Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Territory of Guam.

Rising Star Award: Ace Caguioa

Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s New Media and Marketing Specialist Abner "Ace" Caguioa was recognized as the recipient. The Rising Star award recognizes newcomers who have demonstrated special creativity or ability in marketing and PR and show evidence of a promising future in the field. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR’s seven districts, and district winners automatically qualify for consideration for the national award.

Ace, who came to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in October 2019, is a team builder and natural leader with experience in fast-paced environments. Ace is tech-savvy with skills in graphic design, videography, social media management, and scriptwriting. Ace brings a student-focused perspective to his work having served as a marketing coordinator and outreach counselor at California State University, Fullerton prior to coming to Âé¶¹´«Ã½.  

Since taking over in October 2019, Ace has grown the number of followers by 62%. Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Instagram has been cited as a model for best practices in social media management, thanks to its high-quality photos, videos, and storytelling. 

Ace leads across the college and was instrumental in helping Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Classified Senate win the California Community Colleges Classified Senate’s Spirit Stick competition, during the Classified Leadership Institute last summer. Each college in the competition was judged by the previous year’s winner for its school spirit attire and performance. Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Classified Senate brought a fierce, choreographed performance to the stage, dancing to Queen’s “We Will Rock You.â€

He is an amazing photographer and has significantly built with bright, colorful photos that capture the essence of Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s campus community.
