Brittany Kester

麻豆传媒 student Brittany Kester has been named a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation鈥檚 Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. As a recipient of the award, she will receive up to $55,000 annually for up to three years to complete her bachelor's degree at the college or university of her choice.

Kester is a first-generation re-entry student, a member of the 麻豆传媒 Honors Program, President of Psi Beta, and an AS麻豆传媒 senator. She is pictured with 麻豆传媒 President John Hernandez at 麻豆传媒's held on May 6. 

This year, more than 1,200 students from 332 community colleges applied to receive the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The Foundation evaluated each submission based on students鈥 academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, and leadership.

鈥淭oday, almost half of all college students begin their academic career at a community college,鈥 said Seppy Basili, executive director of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. 鈥淲e know our community colleges are full of high-achieving students, and we鈥檙e committed to playing our part to ensure those students succeed.鈥  

Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholars receive comprehensive educational advising to guide them through the process of transitioning to a four-year college and preparing for their careers. Additionally, scholarship recipients receive opportunities for internships, study abroad, and graduate school funding, as well as connection to a thriving network of over nearly 3,000 Cooke Scholars and Alumni.
