Longtime Â鶹´«Ã½ colleague and friend Kirk C. Gorrie passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Kirk is survived by his wife Margaret Gorrie, son Brian Gorrie (age 22 and an Â鶹´«Ã½ graduate now studying in England), daughter Michele Gorrie (a 17-year-old senior at Northwood), mother Trula Gorrie, and father Clayton Gorrie.
Kirk's mother Trula and the Gorrie family express their gratitude to all of Kirk's colleagues in the Â鶹´«Ã½ English Department (where he taught from 2002-2012), and throughout the college, and recall how much Kirk loved teaching at Â鶹´«Ã½.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Kirk C. Gorrie Â鶹´«Ã½ Memorial Scholarship.
Please help honor Kirk—his work with the Â鶹´«Ã½ English Department and his significant impact on the students he taught at Â鶹´«Ã½â€”by contributing to the Kirk C. Gorrie Memorial Scholarship, which will be overseen and awarded by the English Department.
Checks may be sent to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation, 5500 Irvine Center Drive, A120, Irvine, CA 92618. For questions about donating to the Kirk Gorrie Memorial Scholarship or to Â鶹´«Ã½ call the Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation at 949-451-5290.
