On October 18, �鶹��ý’s award-winning Model United Nations (MUN) team attended the PACMUN conference at Riverside City College—and made history. The 35-member delegation earned seven awards, more than any other college and surpassing the team’s previous best. Awards included three Outstanding Delegate awards (first-place), two Distinguished Delegate awards (2nd place), two Honorable Mention awards (3rd place), and the Best Delegate award (peer-award).

The team simulated the Security Council on the issue artificial intelligence and autonomous weapons systems and the United Nations Environmental Agency (UNEA) on the safe and sustainable use of the world’s oceans. �鶹��ý’s MUN team swept the top three awards in the highly competitive Security Council and won more than half the awards in UNEA. 

Professor and MUN Advisor Shirin Sahani said, “The real win was watching �鶹��ý students collaborate with peers from across Southern California to tackle global challenges—and hearing how students of all backgrounds and learning styles thrived in this experiential setting.”

• Hayden Lively – UNEA, Honorable Mention (“First-time delegate—impressive debut!”) 
• Hassan Mekky – Security Council, Outstanding Delegate & Best Delegate (“Double win—wow!”) 
• Anh Nguyen – UNEA, Outstanding Delegate (“Inclusive leadership that drew everyone in.”) 
• Adrianna Machado – UNEA, Distinguished Delegate (“Helped less-prepared delegates shine.”)
