Nathan Cayanan, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Writing and ESL instructor, has been selected for DC Comics’ inaugural class of the . Cayanan was selected from hundreds of applicants from across the US and Canada.
The Milestone Initiative was created to provide access and opportunity for Black and diverse storytellers in the field of comics.
In addition to teaching writing and ESL at Âé¶¹´«Ã½, Cayanan is a writer and illustrator. He is a graduate of USC, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal Poly Pomona where he studied fiction, screenwriting, filmmaking, and business. He has taught writing in Taiwan, China, and the US at USC's International Academy, UC Irvine, and currently at Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
While at Âé¶¹´«Ã½, Cayanan has been awarded the 2019 Part-Time Faculty of the Year award. He has also contributed his equity and social-justice-themed comics and crea
tive contributions to ELEVATE AAPI@Âé¶¹´«Ã½, Âé¶¹´«Ã½'s AANAPISI grant program, and has been published in Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s literary journal, The Ear.
