麻豆传媒 Kinesiology Instructor Logan Post, who is also an athletic trainer at Beckman High School, along with two of his students are being celebrated for their quick, life-saving actions at a recent varsity football game. When a coach collapsed on the sidelines at the game, Post sprang into action along with help from students Frederick Kweon and Owen Kelso.

Post and Kweon began CPR when the coach stopped breathing. Post administered chest compressions while Kelso grabbed a facemask so that Kweon could give breaths. Kweon and Kelso worked together to get the AED to the location and ready. The coach was resuscitated before paramedics transported him to a nearby medical facility.

Last week, members of the Tustin Unified School District (TUSD) Board of Education and administrative team joined the Santa Ana-Tustin Rotary in honoring Post, Kweon and Kelso for their efforts that played a vital role in saving the coach鈥檚 life.

鈥淟ogan, Frederick and Owen鈥檚 actions saved this coach鈥檚 life,鈥 said Beckman High School Principal Dr. Donnie Rafter. 鈥淚t is amazing to see a teacher and his students use the concepts learned in class to actually save a life.鈥

鈥淚 feel very fortunate that my students and I were able to respond the way we did,鈥 shared Logan. 鈥淵ou hope you never have to deal with emergency situations like this, but when they do come up you also hope that your training takes over. This was very much the case that night. We go over all sorts of emergency situations in class and they learn the skills of CPR and AED use, but to put it into practice is a lot to ask of even seasoned responders. The way Freddie and Owen stepped up was incredible, and I鈥檓 thankful they were able to use those skills in a real and meaningful way.鈥
